This course uses the next generation groove production studio machine which gives students the opportunity for beat creation and arrangement. Students utilize an advanced software sequencer and sampler which seamlessly integrate via a MIDI controller. It brings together flexible step sequencing and real time poly phonic recording in a forward thinking pattern based arrangement concept that makes easier for students to jam out ideas and turn them into a full blown songs in a way that is efficient, effortless and fun.

1. What is the difference between SoundKontrols DJ Academy in comparison to other Academy?

The biggest difference would be  our comprehensive course syllabus which other academies  does not have detailed syllabus unlike us.  Secondly, we cover theory, practical and on the job training for all our students. In addition, our certified instructors dedicate 100% of their time with the students to ensure we maximize their time. We also provide course notes, books, DVDs and other reading materials to prepare them for multiple choice exam before they are awarded the certificate of completion. 

2. What kind of equipents do you use?

All students get trained with Turntables first. Students are not allowed to use CDJ until they have perfected the art of beat matching and BAR mixing with Turntables.

3. Does your syllabus cover Digital Vinyl System (DVS) such as Serato or Traktor?

Yes, our syllabus covers Traktor & Serato from day one the students enroll. Students use DVS to learn the basic beat matching while simultaneously covering every aspect of DVS. 4. How long does it take to master art of mixing?

We guarantee all our students to be able to master the art of mixing within 8 weeks. If within 8 weeks the students are not able to master the art of mixing, than we refund 100% of the course fees. We take pride in producing quality DJs to the industry and not just a DJ.

5. What genres does the Academy cover?

Students cover all genres as this is essential requirement to be a DJ. All our graduates are able to mix any genres (70s, 80s, 90s, current  Top 40, House, Techno, Trance) and any BPM(75 BPM to 135 BPM). We want our graduates to be VERSATILE.

7. Does the Academy give the students to experience real live DJing in clubs?

Yes, all our students are given an opportunity to create a playlist and spin at local clubs along side with top DJs. These give the students’confidence of spinning  outside of  the studio. DJ 103 Live Mixing course syllabus was specifically tailored for students to spin in different clubs for 4 consecutive weeks.

8. Does the Academy teach students how to speak on the mic?

Students are taught on how to speak on the mic which is part of the course syllabus (DJ 102 Advanced Mixing). In order for students to graduate, it is compulsory that they pass the vocal exam which includes the art of  using microphone.

9. Are given the opportunity to record our own mix tape?

Yes, without recording a mix tape,  students will not be able to graduate. It is compulsory for students to create a minimum of 3 mix tapes before they are awarded with the certificate of achievement.

10. What are other benefits do we get of being a student with SoundKontrols DJ Academy?

All graduates are automatically enrolled into SoundKontrols DJ Academy Alumni where they stand a chance to learn more from other graduates and instructors. They also expand their network with other renowned DJs as well as getting the latest technology update from the Academy itself.

11. Do you have any age limit for students at the Academy?

No, we don’t have any age limit. Our youngest student was only 8 years old and oldest student was 50 years old.  Both students graduated from the Academy. As long as the students have a burning desire and passion for music, we will transform them to become a “GOOD” DJ.

12. What other aspects of DJing do you teach at the Academy?

We teach more than just art of mixing. At our Academy we teach students how to become a PRO DJ. To become a PRO DJ, our students will be taught how to market themselves, DJ Profile, DJ grooming, Mobile, DJ Contract and website which is essential.

13. How qualified are your instructors at the Academy?

We have a total of 60 years of industry experience combined from our 4 instructors. Each of our instructors is master on their own field. In addition, we have Certified Traktor and Serato instructors who teach according to the specific Digital Vinyl System syllabus.

14.  What kind of exams to you give to the students at the Academy?

Our multiple choice exam covers theory which is normally derived from course notes and books. The exam ensures the students fully understand the theory of DJing and not just practical. In addition, we also have vocal exam which covers the on how to present information as a DJ over the microphone.

After successfully completing the full “8 week” course, students will be given the chance to put to use all of the skills that the SoundKontrols DJ Academy has taught them and put on their own night. This enables students to see their name on flyers and show off their skills to friends and family and hopefully even start a name for themselves. The student nights are a popular aspect of the course and have been a great success. Students operate the night totally independently and if they do really well, may even make back the money they spent on the course. SoundKontrols DJ Academy is the ONLY DJ training school in the country that actively encourages students to move from bedroom DJing to playing out live in a club situation. You will also receive a full set of course notes and a certificate of excellence which are now highly recommended within the nightclub industry.

Depending on where you want to take your DJ skills we teach students mix, scratch and perform in front of a large crowd. One of the most important aspects of our courses are to make sure the students are ready to go out and earn money with their new career if that’s where they want to head. The academy also teaches student on music production course where they learn how to create their own music.

SoundKontrols DJ Academy is the only DJ Academy in Malaysia that requires the students to complete a theoretical multiple choice exam and practical nonstop mix before they are awarded a Certificate of Achievement for all courses. DJ INSTRUCTORS

Dave Ramana (MCDave) – Founder of SoundKontrols DJ Academy

MCDave founded SoundKontrols DJ Academy to ensure DJ industry in Malaysia has good QUALITY DJ which is essential. He has more than 22 years of entertainment experience in both club and broadcasting. He was the official Broadcasting DJ for Salem Power Station in Malaysia.  MCDave holds Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Oklahoma, Norman, USA and Masters in Business Administration from Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia. MCDave is also a Certified Traktor Scratch Trainer and Certified Serato Scratch Trainer.  Other certifications include Certified NASM Personal Trainer and Certified Acoustic Consultant. MCDave is currently pursuing his PHD in Business Administration. He is the instructor for all courses at SoundKontrols DJ Academy.

DJ Dilee D 

DJ Dilee D had an interest in music since the age of fourteen. When he was sixteen he decided to dedicate more time to it and began DJing.  He then moved on to become a resident DJ at several clubs in Sri Lanka. known as Dilee D, is a House, Tech House, Progressive House, Funky, Disco, Deep, Minimal and Techno. He is also a producer of electronic dance music under the label Ultra Records. Although he has used many aliases in the past, he is best known for his work as DJ Dilee D. On his latest productions, and is now known simply as “Dilee D”.

DJ Dilee D has mastered the art of mixing and with the help of Traktor Scratch PRO he is able to make each track electrifying as possible. DJ Dilee D is an instructor for DJ 102 – Advanced Mixing and DJ 206 – Groove & Music Production at SoundKontrols DJ Academy.

DJ MasterMind

DJ Mastermind graduated from Playaz Universe DJ Academy back in year 2004, was abroad away for further studies & now freshly joining the clubbing circuit.  He has more than 6 years of experience in the DJ industry and recently collaborated with SoundKontrols DJ Academy to create quality DJs into the industry. DJ Mastermind is an avid Traktor PRO user and uses it for all his mixes and scratching.

DJ Mastermind is an instructor for DJ 104 –Tunrntabalism with Scratching and DJ 105- Beat Juggling at SoundKontrols DJ Academy.

This course breaks down the fundamentals of beat juggling and teaches students the skill to learn new techniques and enhance their own individual styles. DJ 105 is perfect for those interested in working on a battle set, improving your club presence or simply wants to learn how to beat juggle. On the final day of the programme each student will require to perform a non-stop mix of 10 minutes which will be evaluated by the instructor and a Certificate of Competence will be awarded to successful candidates.

On the final day of the programme each student will require to perform a non-stop scratch demo of 10 minutes which will be evaluated by the instructor and a Certificate of Competence will be awarded to successful candidates.

Overview
This 3 week course is the next step for DJ 102 students or those who already know the DJ basics and advance mixing and would like to master live mixing. Students will be using  Digital Vinyl System to mix their sets live. Each student will require to perform a non-stop mix for 120 minutes which will be evaluated by the instructor and a Certificate of Competence will be awarded to successful candidates.

Overview
This 4 week intensive course is the next step for DJ 101 students or those who already know the DJ basics and want to master their mixing skills using Digital Vinyl System. DJ 102 focuses on fine-tuning students beat matching, pitch bending and mixing skills so they can create seamless mixes. On the final day of the programme each student will require to perform a non-stop mix of 30 tracks within 90 minutes which will be evaluated by the instructor and a Certificate of Competence will be awarded to successful candidates.
